Guest Guru: Win McMurry
Win McMurry is quickly becoming one of the most familiar faces in the golf world. Need proof? Check out this Golf Magazine article from last August naming her Golf’s “No. 1 Beauty.”
Chances are you’ve seen Win – and I’m guessing you wouldn’t forget if you did – on The Golf Channel or golfchannel.com, hosting, reporting, and anchoring on shows like Golf Central, The Grey Goose 19th Hole – and even on her own “Winsday” online series. The Golf Channel gig (she arrived in Orlando just two years ago) was a huge career leap for Win, who had previously cut her on-air teeth on PGATour.com. As we in the TV business like to say, Win “pops” on-screen. And her career climb is an admirable one: Win took the production route after graduating from UNC so she could learn the business, and waited tables in Manhattan to pay the bills while she served as a production assistant at WCBS-TV.
Win’s answers below demonstrate a genuine love for the game – as well as for her Alma mater.
