Bethpage Black Photo Tour

Had an opportunity to walk Bethpage Black yesterday during the Pro-Am that preceded this weekend’s Barclays tournament. Here’s a collection of photos from my afternoon.

The iconic sign:

Gorgeous look at tee box on 1 (Seung-yul Noh teeing off):

Charlie Wi connects on the 389-yard par-4 2nd:

The fifth, where I overheard Kevin Na tell his caddie:  “This is one of the hardest golf courses I’ve ever played in my life.”

The approach on 6 from a narrow, sloping fairway:

The pond that protects the par-3 eighth hole:

Sweet look at the fairway on #9.  Your lie, however, may not be so sweet:

Lightning shelter just off the tenth green:

Now THAT is a bunker.  #11:

Dustin Johnson tees off on the 161-yard par-3 14th hole:

Elevation:  the 15th green:

The 17th green.  Hole playing 207, uphill, into a breeze:

View from the tee box at 18:

Dangerous to miss right on 18:

Great pics! I was there as well. My #1 favorite golf course of all-time (Pinehurst No. 2 comes a distant 2nd). It is where I learned to play the game with my Dad. It is truly the “People’s Course” where everyone is equal and can enjoy America’s greatest game. Thanks for sharing!
