REPORT: Staten Island’s Golf Courses In “Excellent” Shape

In sharp contrast to our story earlier this week about poor golf course conditions elsewhere in the region, Staten Island’s courses are doing just fine.  That’s according to Tom Flannagan of the Staten Island Advance, who claims that despite the “heat and humidity,”   La Tourette, Silver Lake, and South Shore are all in “excellent condition.”

La Tourette, Flannagan says, was found to be “nicely trimmed with fairways and roughs clearly defined and greens were smooth and healthy.”

Golfers “continue to rave about the improvements,” at Silver Lake, “as well as the superb conditions of the greens and fairways.”

And South Shore is “in as fine a condition as it has been in years.”

This is all great news for folks who live in New York City and don’t want to commute too far to play.  They certainly don’t want to head in the direction of Yonkers (read: Dunwoodie), that’s for sure.
