PGA Champ Bradley Used To Play Around Here ,1

PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley is a proud alumnus of St. Johns University.

Wait…St. Johns has a golf team?

Perhaps more shocking than the 25-year-old Jupiter, Florida native’s win this past weekend in Atlanta is the revelation that he is 2008 graduate of SJU – and played for the Red Storm’s golf team.  This morning’s New York Times takes a look at Bradley’s collegiate career in Queens, noting that the school has “no course or dedicated training center,” and is thus “an unlikely cradle of golf champions.”

Bradley honed his skills with the Johnnies at local courses like “Bethpage, Wheatley Hills Golf Club, the Rockaway Hunting Club, Seawane Country ClubGlen Oaks Club..[and] Pelham Country Club” in Westchester.

As a Syracuse alum, I’m more than happy to look at Bradley’s win as a win for the Big East.
